Sewing in the Early Childhood Montessori Classroom

Join Rachelle Stefanski for a workshop on sewing in the Montessori classroom. Rachelle will take you through a detailed sewing sequence for Early Childhood Montessori students. Students will enjoy creating sewing projects, such as: Circular Weaving, varieties of Friendship Bracelets, and Cross Stitching to provide samples for their classrooms. Students will be provided with a starter bag of sewing materials. This workshop is appropriate for Early Childhood Teachers, Elementary Teachers, and Administrators. Montessori 101

Join Jeannine Hanson for a workshop on an introduction to the Montessori classroom. During this workshop, students will learn about the basics of Montessori theory through participation in discussion, lecture, role-play, and written materials. The following topics will be presented: the Montessori triad, with a focus on the child; the prepared environment and the prepared teacher; the Absorbent Mind and Sensitive Periods; Montessori materials and curriculum; observation; use of language; classroom leadership and discipline; the role of the assistant; and professionalism. Upon completion of the course, students will receive an "Each One Teach One" Manual, which provides an overview of topics covered in the course, via email. This workshop is geared towards Assistants and Teachers of Early Childhood students. This class will take place on the campus of Chestnut Montessori School.

Current Research on Brain Development in Young Learners

Join Jeannine Hanson for a workshop on Human Development and the Montessori classroom. Developmental Psychologists have identified “Executive Function” as an important set of skills for young children to develop. This workshop will provide an overview of these skills and discussions of how we can provide our Montessori students with opportunities to develop them. We will share ideas on how we can support parent understanding of the life-long significance of particular traits for success, as documented by new research on brain-based learning. The Math Behind the Science

Join Rachelle Stefanski for a workshop on Math and Science integration in the Montessori classroom.
